So I found an article from 2012 with Quinn Duffy, the Director of CoH2 (and thankfully is still around at Relic despite most of the Relic veterans leaving to go to places like Blizzard) where he says this about CoH3:'As we go forward, if we wanted to do Company of Heroes 3 in 2190 we could,' Duffy continued, 'because we know what we want to do to make it feel like a Company of Heroes game.' Kartu nama bayi aqiqah word.

Later, Duffy added: 'We wanted to take the element of WWII out of the creative vision and focus for the game moving forward. It is setting-agnostic.

Company of Heroes doesn't have to be a World War II game. You can set it in modern times in Fallujah, you could set it in the past.' That's interesting. So Relic might be 'tired' of WWII and want to go to different historical or fictional settings. In a way, this seems similar to how COD went from WWII to all the modern/futuristic settings since 2007.

I guess it would be cool if CoH had its Call of Duty 4 of the series, propelling it to different settings instead of WW2 again.I mean, I love WWII (despite acknowledging the terrible suffering and atrocities) with the technology, asymmetry, and large scale fighting and brutality and I do wish they maybe explored the Eastern Front more. I'm personally not really interested in Africa mostly due to the technological gap being smaller (besides, I think the open empty desert would better fit something like WarGame and not a tactical RTS like CoH), the Pacific is interesting but since there's very few game references to Pacific Warfare it means that I really dont know how well Relic could implement mechanics that befit the setting (i.e. Naval support, melee in a CoH game, jungle environment).I am however, fine with an Alt History WW3 scenario but only if it's set somewhere between 1945-1960. It could be really interesting seeing late war tech go up against the early 'Modern' weapons like Main Battle Tanks, Assault Rifles, Jets, Helicopters, and so on. Anything past 1960 with the guided rockets, advanced helicopters, and so on like in World in Conflict or Wargame would be too 'large' for CoH's smaller setting.Other settings like the Korean War or WWI i'm not sure about.

The Korean War would definitely have most players wanting to play as the UN as most will assume the Communists were a peasant force using Mass Human Wave attacks with little to no vehicles and support. WWI could work but I think it would have to take Battlefield 1's 'artistic liberties' to make the game feel fluid and active because otherwise a WWI CoH game could devolve into static slow trench warfare and I assume the lack of sophisticated vehicles could bum some out.But futuristic settings?

I know a lot of people have gotten sick of the modern and future settings thanks to COD, Battlefield, Destiny, and Titanfall but I think it wouldn't really affect CoH because those are Shooters while with RTS games, you have a somewhat oversaturated WW2 market and you don't see much unique settings for RTS games. So maybe a futuristic setting could be a breath of fresh air for the genre.Think of the technology, the asymmetry, and the fresh new setting for an RTS. It might even draw the attention from C&C fans and others who are bored of WWII.Thoughts or suggestions?. Wargame series is fantastic.

Red Dragon suffered a little bit from extending the timeline to 1995, but otherwise was pretty good. The basic ground/air gameplay was great, and they improved the terrain features greatly over the first 2 games. Large scale naval combat was trash, but the smaller ships, naval landings and amphibious units were pretty well done.I'd love to see a Cold War Company of Heroes, but they'd have to focus the setting to a specific year. 1985-1989 is the period where NATO and the Warsaw Pact were most evenly matched. An early 80s setting would be interesting as well.

The FPS industry is moving away from the super futuristic stuff and now focusing on World War type games again. I think we're about to see another resurgence of WW2 media in terms of video games, movies, etc like there was in the late 90's/Early 2000's.If they made a CoH3 anytime soon I would keep it in WW2 but with a truly modern engine made to utilize the video cards that are available (and working out all the bugs, AKA: Company Of Crashes), and of course implementing new content. This does not need to be new factions. Everyone gets stuck on there needing to be new factions.Dynamic weather that effects gameplay, dynamic maps that have features that change gameplay, customizable commanders, etc. I'd love to see different eras and such but the more I think about it the more I think WW2 is still the only real-world setting that can really work with the CoH style, I know it's basically his game and all but I seriously don't know what Duffy is talking about. If it were really as easy to transplant CoH into different eras as he makes it out to be why haven't they really looked at doing so already?Doing pre-WW2 (so pretty much WW1) would require loads of new, probably pretty tricky mechanics working in stuff like gas, trenches and melee fighting to portray the setting somewhat well and even if taking a lot of liberties couldn't feature very many units overall. Go modern and you've got the difficulty of semi-convincingly adapting modern warfare to the CoH format without simply making everything bigger and more explode-y, losing what makes the series work and winding up with an inferior World in Conflict/Wargame: Red Dragon-esque knock off.

It's sometimes suggested they could avoid some of that by going for more asymmetrical, smaller scale stuff like Iraq/Afghanistan but then you miss out on a huge chunk of the destructive craziness people love in this series, they'd have to totally reinvent how the game plays to make something like that and how would you even begin to balance the two sides?I reckon they should take a big break from the series and come back with CoH 3 around 2020 or something. Keep it WW2 (I would really like to see some sorta alternate history WW2 lasting past '45 scenario to allow for more wacky units/abilities, but an alt. History premise might turn a lot of players off and a relatively niche series like this probably can't afford that) and hopefully incorporate multiple theatres on release, kinda like you said basically the same format, same era but with all sorts of new hopefully meaningful additions and changes brought to life via modern tech and loads of RTS designing experience.
